Chichibu Japanese Dinner Hosted by Ichiro Akuto

Two of the world’s most respected whisky houses — Chichibu (Japan) and Michter’s (USA) — are travelling to Australia for the Whisky Abbey Festival, and have chosen Candela Nuevo as the only venue in the country to host their private dinners and presentations.

These events have come together at the last minute, following both distilleries’ generous offer to present to our members during their brief visit.

They will not be hosting any other public or private dinners in Australia, making this a truly one-off experience for Candela members.

In collaboration with Casa de Vinos and Whisky Abbey, we welcome Ichiro Akuto, founder of Chichibu Distillery, and Yumi Yoshikawa, Chichibu’s Global Brand Ambassador — together in Australia for the very first time.

Ichiro Akuto, often credited with redefining Japan’s new generation of craft whisky, built Chichibu upon a 400-year family legacy and a passion for small-batch precision.

Yumi Yoshikawa, described by Whisky Magazine as “the voice and spirit of Chichibu,” brings international expertise and deep insight into the distillery’s philosophy.

Guests will enjoy a three-course dinner paired with Ichiro’s Malt & Grain Japanese

Blended Whisky, a four-time winner of Best Japanese Blended Limited Release (2022–2025).
